We know that there is good and evil in every aspect in life and as many people have been turning their backs on having faith in the police, it seems there has been a great loss in the political force of our government to issue and protect the justices of all people. Just yesterday congressional staffers made a bold move to remind us that they too, are apart of the supportive movement for Eric Garner and Mike Brown. Over 150 congressional staffers walked out of their jobs yesterday an risked facing unemployment. This is when this powerful image (featured below) was taken and blasted all over social media for the world to see that those on Capitol Hill are also standing in solidarity with us against the injustices that have occurred. Members from the Congressional Black Associates as well as the African American Women on the Hill Network were present amongst others side by side in a peaceful silent protest. One organizer stated:

“Black staffers on Capitol Hill wanted to do something in support of ongoing national and global protests against police aggression. Many of us felt we needed to stand with others who were taking on the issue of police abuse and do it here, where we work, even though not all of us have had that same experience, personally. Everyone I talked to has known someone who’s been directly impacted. As black staffers on Capitol Hill, we saw a stark disconnect. While we hold education credentials and broad access in the overall political system, often when we walk outside, we contend with the fact that we are seen as dangerous, merely because of the color of our skin.”

“[This was a] show of unity and solidarity… to stand shoulder to shoulder with other peaceful demonstrations.”

Congress Support Eric Garner & Mike Brown
We love this protest and the movement it has become. But most of all we couldn’t be more proud!
