This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Schick, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #pmgschick #7dayshavechallenge #ad http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV
The best part about the summer is that it is SUMMER obviously! The worst part? Shaving! I am not a big fan of shaving at all for many reasons, but the two biggest reasons are the amount of time it takes out of my morning or night time routine, and the itching when the hair grows back! During the winter I limit my shaving because I pretty much go into hibernation. In doing so, the first few times shaving in the spring is always more annoying than I remember from the previous year.
Why? Because I’m making things too complicated for myself and I’m not moisturizing properly. I try to rush and get it done, only to really set myself up for failure. Thats why I was so excited to partner with Schick in this 7 day challenge, to see if it would make my transition back into smooth moisturized legs simpler than before. In participating in this 7 day shaving challenge, I got more than just smooth legs! I also figured out three simple steps that make shaving easier and less time consuming. Go figure!
So What’s the challenge? Schick dared me to shave every day for 7 days (WTH right… stay with me) using the Hydro Silk razor, and Skintimate Island Berry Breeze shave gel. Then I had to compare my legs prior to using these goodies and after. Here were my results… and the three simple steps I took that made shaving easier during this process and forevaa! (Cardi B voice)
1. Consistency vs. Necessity: We all know that during the winter we are inconsistent in shaving because… why would be shave all of the time when it is freezing outside. If people can’t see the body parts that need shaving then we’re all good! That is my theory and I’m sticking to it. However, in the spring and summer months, shaving consistently vs. when you think it is necessary may make help take the hassle out of shaving. In partaking in this 7 day challenge I originally felt “forced” to shave to really see results, but I realized that with consistency (no I’m not suggesting you shave everyday for the whole summer) it got easier, and I didn’t have to spend as much time shaving as I used to. There was less hair to remove, and I didn’t have to go over and over the same spot trying to get the tiny hairs to disappear (uhh overall bad idea that can lead to razor burn so just don’t do it). Using the Schick Hydro Silk Razor for my 7 day challenge, helped bring my dull dry winter skin back to life by helping to hydrate the skin during the shaving process. By day 7 there was little to no hair that returned (just very little stubble) and my skin felt very smooth and hydrated.
2. Choose The Right Tools: This is such a biggie! Can I share a secret with you. I’ve been shaving since I was 12 years old and I have never used shaving cream or gel until now. And that is one of the reasons I had such issues with the process of shaving. Another reason, I used my dad’s and mom’s old razors for years! Not only is that super gross and can lead to bacteria winding up in places you don’t want it to be, it also really messes up the aesthetic of your beautiful legs. I can’t even explain the amount of scratches, cuts, and dry spots I’ve left behind on my legs, underarms and bikini area because of improper tools and techniques. In using the Schick Hydro Silk Razor during this challenge I was pleasantly pleased and surprised that blades offered more than just a close shave, but also left my skin soft and smooth after each shave session. I paired it with the Skintimate Island Berry Breeze Shave Gel (which smelled better than I expected… I have a thing against products that remind me of awful odors) and had soft smooth legs ready to nab a man with!
That is a definite major key in making your shaving experience simpler and quicker. Use a moisturizing shaving gel to help the razor get the close shave without grating your legs like a block of cheese. I alternated between the New Skinitimate Island Berry Breeze Shave Gel and the Skintimate Silky Skin shave gel to see which I preferred. Both worked great but the Silky Skin was def a favorite because of the Moroccan Oil, Vitamin E, Olive Butter and Sunflower Seed Oil. All ingredients I also use on my hair!
3. Convenience Is Key: One of my biggest pet peeves about shaving is how inconveneient it can be to my schedule. I don’t like to wake up earlier than I have to, and sometimes I really just wish the hair could fall magically off of my legs. The easier the process the better it is to get through, and get to the beach. So what did Schick do? Create convenience! The Schick Hydro Silk Razor can be accompanied by Schick Hydro Silk Shower Hanging Refills. So once you’re in the shower you don’t have to worry about getting out to change your razor. I’ve had this happen to me before, and once I got out of the shower I decided to throw on a maxi dress… why? Because I didn’t feel like shaving anymore! These refills are an easy convenient way to change your razor blade in the shower so you can get a quick shave in before heading to the beach.
After 7 days of shaving I must say, my legs are looking very ready for the summer and I’m going to keep at it (not 7 days consistently) by following these three tidbits! I now challenge YOU to the 7 day challenge you at home to complete the challenge using the Schick Hydro Silk razor and Schick hanging refills. You can find different razor options here and these awesome shaving gels here!
