I must admit the growth, and innovation in the natural hair community is so inspiring and mind blowing. Just when I think I’ve seen it all or that we have become stagnant an entrepreneurial mind comes through and changes up the game just a little bit. Over the weekend I ran into The Hookie Do. Weird sounding name, and looks a little funny, but it is most certainly an interesting idea. The Hookie Do allows you to achieve a full sew in look in 30 minutes or less! You can order yourself a pizza and be ready to slay in the same amount of time! What separates this innovation from quick weave is the process does not require any glue, needles, or thread. Which means you can use the hookie do unit to obtain several different looks. The unit looks like a bunch of bra hooks placed closely together on a wig cap. If you want to attach your straight hair you hook the wefts to the hookie do clips, if you want to switch up your unit to have wavy/curly hair you can just unhook the hold hair and install the new ones into the same unit. You do not actually pierce or compromise the weft so you don’t have to worry about much shedding.Cutting the wefts is also not advised.
The Hookie Do is running for about 60.00 right now on their website and promises delivery in time for Christmas. It is normally priced at about 90.00 dollars so if you’re looking to get your hands on it now would be the time to have that great holiday hair/look we naturalistas always plan weeks ahead. It doesn’t seem to have many size variations which may cause issues for women who do not fit/like the standard size. I haven’t had the chance to actually try the Hookie Do but from watching a few reviews/ tutorials and reading a few comments the product is still in the start up phase. There are some issues that people have reported with the construction of the unit that I’m sure the owner will start to address as they move along in business.
The versatility of it is something I see making it very popular in the natural hair community. As well as the price point and helpful economic factors for the future. Wigs/weaves aren’t cheap but being able to switch out hair on one unit may help preserve the hair longer depending on how gentle you are when applying the hair to the clips. With protective styling season coming in the Hookie Do may become a hot seller for the holidays. Take a look at the video below as the owner demonstrates how she gets a full sew in look using had she attaches to the Hookie do hooks.
