Where did you grow up?
Heidi I grew up in a large family in Milwaukee, WI.
What do you want to make sure your audience knows?
– About you?
Heidi: I am a wife and mother of three with two off to college and one in high school. I am an avid runner, yogi, reader, and of course I love anything having to do with hair!
– About your career?
Heidi I spend most of my waking hours focused on marketing, customer service, sales, market research, and travel. It’s a juggle, but somehow it all gets done.
What made you decide to begin?
Heidi: I had a void in my own hair care routine. I wanted to refresh, reshape, boost volume without rewetting my hair. I wanted awesome second day hair, but it was always elusive to me. One day it occurred to me that steam was the answer. When I couldn’t find a hand held hair steamer on the market, I decided to create my own. I knew that I couldn’t possibly be the only woman with this problem. So once my concept was developed I took it to the marketplace.
What is the motto of Q-Redew?
Heidi: Be you, Q-Redew.
What does your company stand for?
Heidi: We want women to feel beautiful. We believe the convenience and utility of the Q-Redew helps women quickly and with out fuss achieve healthy, beautiful hair. And of course, good hair day makes all the difference in how beautiful we feel.
What artist most influences you and why?
Heidi: I consider Lorraine Massey’s work with textured hair to be art. Lorraine’s Curly Girl Method taught me the basics of caring for naturally textured hair, and convinced me that I could wear my hair in it’s natural curl pattern. Without her influence on me there would not be Q-Redew.
What is the most rewarding part of your career?
Heidi: Meeting the clients! I could not begin to count the number of lovely, kind, curly and coily women I have met. I love them!
– Is there a least rewarding part?
Heidi: As an entrepreneur it is 24/7/365. You can’t just put business away for later.
Who depends on your success? Who are you doing this for?
Heidi: I have had many friends and family believe in me in this effort. I’d like to live up to their expectations.
If you weren’t in your field, what would you be doing?
Heidi: By nature, I am a caregiver. I think I would be in a service position working with young people.
When did you discover you were passionate about your craft?
Heidi: I have always loved curly, textured, big hair. It was when I realized that I really had something to contribute to the world of hair care via the Q-Redew, that I became passionate.
What’s going to be your legacy?
Heidi: Detangled, voluminous, moisturized hair for everyone! lol
Has your family always supported you throughout your career?
Heidi: Yes! Throughout the development and the launch of the Q-Redew, my husband, Tom, worked beside me to bring the Q-Redew from an idea to a real consumer product.
Who is the rock behind your empire?
Heidi: My husband, Tom, is the rock. No matter how frustrating the day may be, he does not give up. Ever.
What projects do you have coming up? What should we look out for?
Heidi: We are looking forward to meeting the needs of the women outside the US with a 230v model Q-Redew. As well as, designing a larger reservoir that will attach to the present day Q-Redew.
