Wash Day Update: Natural Hair Products For The Fall

The Fall is right around the corner and that requires a bit of a change in the hair regimen. I like to keep my Fall and Spring hair regimen as simple as possible as they don’t require as much work/attention as the harsh conditions in Winter and Summer do. With the change in the seasons, and wash day/hair regimen I’m also diving into a few new hair care products that I haven’t tried yet but have heard many good things about. These products have the key ingredients I like to keep/have in my hair care regimen with a different formula/consistency so as it is not too heavy or too light.

My summer hair care regimen has been very simple and I stuck pretty closely to it. I dabbled in a few different deep conditioners and moisturizers while predominately protective styling. I will be sticking to the simple similar steps in my regimen with just a new spin and some new products ! And I can’t wait !

Natural Hair Products For The Fall

db_file_img_4226_420x420  Eden Body Works Coconut Shea Cleansing CoWash: I haven’t tried this co wash cleanser but I’ve seen it at my local Walgreens and have heard good things.  I decided to give it a try and I ordered it the other from MyLoux for 8.99 which is about the same price as in your local drug store as well. I’m not really a shampooer so I am critique co wash cleansers very closely. I’ll keep you posted. But with the ingredients I’ve seen (listed below) I am a fan of the potential this product could have on my hair.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Cetearyl Alcohol, Propanediol, Butryospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Vegetable Oil, Hydrolyzed Keratin, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetrimonium Chloride, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Butylene Glycol, Panthenyl Hydroxypropyl Steardimonium Chloride, Propylene Glycol Dibenzoate, Citric Acid, Fragrance (Parfum), Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol

DewBerry__02842.1421859859.240.240Mielle Organics Honey Dew Berry Cowash: I’ve been ranting and raving about Mielle Organics for months now because I’m all the way here for their choice of organic ingredients that are doing wonders for my hair. With my love for the simple I’ve been using Tresemme Naturals as my co-wash and rinse out (you shouldn’t do that but I’m guilty). So I’ve decided to follow my own good advice and give the Honey Dew Berry Co wash a shot since I’m giving that entire line a try and loving every moment of it. You can get your hands on this product and any Mielle Organics products at a discount by using our special code: TRESSES at checkout.

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Cocos Nucifera(coconut) oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearalkonium Chloride, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit, Cetyl Alcohol, Simmondsia Chinensis (Organic Jojoba) Seed oil, Crambe Abyssinica (Abyssinia) Seed oil, Sclerocarya Birrea (Marula) Kernal oil, Cyamopsis Tetragonoloba (Guar) Gum, Hydrolyzed Silk( Silk Amino Acids), Potassium Sorbate, Polyaminopropyl Biguanide, Phthalate-Free Fragrance, Tocopherol, Citirc acid

db_file_img_2522_420x420Eden Body Works Jojoba Monoi Revitalizing Conditioner: Again I’ve been so stuck on Tresemme Naturals (still my favorite and go to conditioner by the way) that I’ve been letting other great conditioners slip through the cracks. This conditioner was also a part of my My Loux order (I’ll be giving you more  details on that shortly). This conditioner is also 8.99 which fits greatly into my budget when buying natural hair products.

Water (Aqua), Cetyl Alcohol, Stearyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Coco Nut Oil, Tiare Flower, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil, Anthemis Nobilis (Camomile) Flower Oil, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol , Caprylyl Glycol, Sorbic Acid

Babassu__51001.1421856711.500.500Mielle Organics Babassu Oil & Mint Deep Conditioning Protein: At 15.00 bucks a jar it is a bit pricer than I like to spend (you can get a discount using code TRESSES) on products but I do think splurging on a deep conditioner is crucial to a great hair care regimen. (and I don’t splurge on much). I’m looking into adding more protein into my hair because of my low porosity situation I’m trying to handle. This deep conditioner contains babassu oil (which is relatable to coconut oil) and organic proteins as well.

Ingredients: water/aqua/eau, behentrimonium methosulfate, cetearyl alcohol, acetyl esters, Orbygnia speciosa (babassu) nut oil, biosaccharide gum-1, Euterpe(acai)pulp oil, sodium PCA, sodium lactate, arginine, aspartic acid, PCA, glycine, alanine, serene, valine, proline, threonine, isoleucine, histidine, phenylalanine, Orbignya speciosa kernel oil, Astrocaryum murumuru butter, Pentaclethra macroloba (pracaxi) seed oil, Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, Helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, dehydroacetic acid, Lavandula agustifolia (lavender) flower oil, Pelargonium graveolens (geranium) flower/leaf oil Salvia officials (sage) leaf oil, Mentha piperita (peppermint) leaf oil, Citrus paradise(Pink Grapefruit) peel oil, Litsea cubeba (litsea cubeba) fruit oil, Mentha (spearmint) leaf oil, Benzyl alcohol.

16576937TGIN Twist & Define CreamI got a chance to dabble into the TGIN world a few months ago and I automatically fell in love with the Deep conditioner, leave in conditioner and daily moisturizer. I tried this twist and define cream once… and wasn’t a huge fan. With my new regimen for the Fall I want to give this styler another try for my twist outs and other styling options. The ingredients give it a funky glue like consistency, but I think using less of it will give me the desired results with out the residue I previously experienced.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Coconut Oil, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, PVP, Triethanolamine, Polysorbate 20, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Panthenol, Carbomer, Fragrance, Iodopropynul Butylcarbamate, DMDM Hydantoin

220Cantu Twist & Lock Gel:  I was a huge Cantu advocate when I started my natural hair journey and it was the first hair care line that I ever used. I was never a fan of gels or gel like products in my hair so I never experienced the Twist and Lock Gel. I’ve recently been given the opportunity to get my hands on it (more on that later) and I think adding some gel into my natural hair life could be a positive experience. Plus Cantu products always smell so heavenly I figure why not give it a shot.

Ingredients: Water, PVP, Fragrance, Polyquaternium-37, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Extract, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Oil, Olea Euopaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernal Oil, Melia Azadirachta (Neem) Seed Oil, Daucus Carota Sativa (Carrot) Seed Oil, Lonciera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Laminara Cloustoni (Sea Kelp) Extract, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract, Macadamia Ternifolia (Macadamia) Seed Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Extract, Silk Amino Acids, Hydrolyzed Silk, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin

LOC Method Updated

I am a huge fan of the LOC method and have been sticking with the same few products consistently (if it aint broke don’t fix it) but since I’m now giving everything an overhaul boost I figure I’d shake things up a bit in my LOC method rituals as well.

SBS-476852Shea Moisture CocoShea BioLipid Complex Leave In Conditioner: I know I know another Shea Moisture line. They must be up to like 30 at this point and a new one comes out just about every single week! I was so excited to get my hands on the Shea Moisture Professionals line. It isn’t readily available every where  (not even on Amazon) just yet but you can get it from your local Sally’s. Warning: this line is a bit pricer than the regular Shea Moisture lines.

MintOil__68209.1421860078.500.500Mielle Organics Mint Almond Oil: If you haven’t tried this oil, or you haven’t heard me praising this oil… you’ve been living under a rock!  This magic in a bottle is my savior for so many aspects of life. The Mielle Organics Mint Almond Oil works so well that I can’t swap it out of my LOC method I just cant and I won’t. It is also so light that you can seal your ends, moisturize your scalp and use it as a pre-poo oil. You need to give it a shot if you are looking for an oil that will turn your natural hair game around. (coupon code: TRESSES)

81dLZ2rBU9L._SX522_TGIN Daily Butter Moisturizer: Okay so… I didn’t really change the “C” in my LOC method either. The Daily Butter Moisturizer from TGIN keeps my locs moisturized and I don’t have to use it daily. That is a definite plus especially for about 15 bucks a month, a little goes a long way. I alternate between the TGIN Daily Butter Moisturizer and the Mielle Organics Avocado Hair Milk. Both are light enough not to weigh down the hair and strong enough to keep your hair moisturized for days two and three.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Glycerin, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Cetearyl Alcohol, Coconut Oil, Amodimethicone, Brassicamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Oleo Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, , Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Prunus Amygdalys (Sweet Almond) Oil, Triticum Vulgare (Wheat) Germ Oil, PEG 4 Hydrogentated Castor Oil, Ceteareth-20, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Panthenol (Pro-vitamin B5), Aspatric Acid, Perfume, Cyclopentasiloxane, Iodopropynyl Butylcarbamate, DMDM Hydantoin, Benzophenone – 3, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Tetrasodium EDTA, Simethicone, BHT

  • I thought I was the only one who didn’t love TGIN curl defining cream upon first (or second try). I must admit, though, I am a little heavy handed when it comes to products and I’ve heard that a little goes a long way with this one. I don’t think I’ll give it a third try. But I will try the butter cream just to give TGIN another shot.

Thanks for this post. I’ve had Mielle Organics products in the cart for the past two weeks because I kept going back and forth. I’m sold now! 🙂

    • The butter creme is amazing! Let me know how you like it. I’ll keep you posted on the defining curl creme’s results. You’ll love the Mielle Organics products!
