Square Hue Review & Unboxing @SquareHue

This Square Hue subscription service came right int he nick of time for my nail polish spring cleaning. I recently received a nail polish organizer and every few months (so I guess it isn’t a spring cleaning) I toss/give away old or un unused nail polish (I have over 150 bottles) and replace them with new ones.

Square Hue gives you three full size (.50 oz) unique nail polish colors (no repeats) every single month for 15.00 a month (+ s/h). I love the bottle shape, and the fact that they give back.

Their motto is “Color Your Nails. Change The World” and I can get behind that. Every month a portion of the monthly subscription fees are donated to helping people of specific causes. Their current focus is Human Trafficking awareness, protection and prevention.

Each box comes with a specific theme to follow the overall theme for the year. How clever/cute is that. This year they are following the decades theme so each month will be a different decade. I received the January box for review which was focused on the 1900s.  They also use the “5 free” Clean Formula (which means they do not use the five harmful chemicals used in most nail polishes), not tested on animals (a major plus for me) and is made in the US.

What Came In My Box?

square hue reviewI received three very distinct colors with the cutest names. The first was a spring time light soft pink called “Gibson Girl” which is identified as a high gloss creme on the information card. This pink goes on smoothly and requires two coats for nice even coverage and a great spring time pink to wear to brunch, or day parties that have become super popular out here in New York.

Usually with grey polishes you have to apply several coats in order to get a good amount of coverage but this was not the case for this polish.

square hue reviewThe third color that arrived in the box is my favorite it is a high gloss creme called “Victorian End” and is a nice deep grape purple shade with a hint of glittery tones. It is a beautiful purple and goes on smooth. This also lasts longer than my normal manicures, so whatever is in this I am thrilled for.

Final Thoughts: Overall I give this box a 5/5! I am literally obsessed with nail polish and think this subscription box is not only clever but unique in the market (something that is very rare when a new subscription box pops up every five seconds). I also think the shades they sent were all very wearable in every day life and not something that would be too brash or stand out. They are a beautiful mix of colors and hit the nail right on the head when aligning with their theme. This is a definitely a box I recommend if you are a nail polish lover or just want to give it a shot and see what the hype is all about.
